My husband and I recently moved to a new home after 35 years spent renovating our first home, raising a family and creating a wonderful cottage-style garden.
Our new garden is a very neat, formal garden and, although a popular style at the moment, I don’t find it very inspiring.
We heard about ‘Garden Design’ week and decided to visit a few local gardens for some ideas. I loved Diane’s back garden so we asked her to help us design a back garden which retained some of the lawn area for grandchildren to play in, included an outdoor entertaining space and spaces for a range of ornamental and edible plants. We met with Diane and had a few meetings where we discussed our needs and wishes. With understanding, knowledge and expertise Diane provided us with a complete garden plan incorporating a couple of must-have trees, entertainment area and pizza oven, vegetable and ornamental beds in an organic design where the different spaces flow into each other beautifully.
Although we haven’t completed the garden yet, I am confident that it will be a beautiful place in which to sit and read, potter about in and spend time with family and friends.
